The Original MyPalm.com Returns
Long time readers will remember that when Palm started up the MyPalm portal, it summarily ordered Dominic Hulewicz, the current user of the MyPalm.com domain, to give it up. Mr. Hulewicz didn't give up without a fight and he took his case to the court of public opinion. After generating much bad press, Palm decided on a compromise. Mr. Hulewicz was allowed to continue to use the domain name in his email address but the web address was redirected to Palm's portal. With the news that the MyPalm portal will be shutting down in just over a month, Mr. Hulewicz's MyPalm.com website has returned.
This was not an example of cybersquatting. Mr. Hulewicz primarily used the domain for his email address and had it at least a year before Palm announced its plans for the MyPalm portal. As he said last year, "I have never attempted to sell my name and although I have received several unsolicited offers for it, on every occasion I made it very clear that I have no wish to sell and politely refused all offers."

These dolts repeated the same mistakes they made at CrAPPLE. I recommend summary executions for these fools who destroyed shareholder value. Hell, at the minimum fire the lot and ta

Previously, I worked as an employment pass holder in a Singapore company on developing bluetooth hardware. The marketing department have to keep sending samples after samples to Palm Singapore on their requests for evaluation but never get any results. If you know what I meant.
As a developer, you risk the relationship with Palm but from a business perpective, it only hurts the entire business relationship with such unprofessional ethics.

I've dealt with the PALM marketing idiots before. I used to work for a startup company focusing on Palm software. Well, before I could conduct negotiations, the marketing idiots demanded that I take a bunch of them out for dinner at a trendy (and expensive) restaurant in the Valley. Well, during the dinner these idiots refused to talk about business and decided to order expensive wines. Well, I was mighty upset but thought I could salvage the situation. The day after, the idiots refused to take my phone calls and even alluded I needed to take them out again and set them up with girls (you know what I mean).
Well, it's pretty clear how these marketing fools destroyed the company. They were more concerned about free meals and girls than business. And don't even get me ranting about the head of marketing. You know: the idiot from Apple who wears color coordinated turbans.

Well for one thing, he got a fat settlement check from Palm.

Try hosting a website called "www.mymicrosoft.com" and see how fast Microsofts lawyers come down on you.
I can see both sides of the argument. Most people who host a website representing a product only have good intentions. But palm has to protect their intellectual property. This site is a perfect example. There is a ton of "Palm Bashing" that goes on in the comments to these stories, and more Palm bashing happening in the Forums. What would Palms motivation be for allowing their copyrighted and protected name to be used on this site without their permission? (Don't misunderstand me, this is the best Palm site out there, and one of my most visited sites!)
Palm allows these sites to exist using "Palm" in their names in the interest of keeping the peace. But it is their right and responsibility to police the illegal use of their trademarked name. This is one of the many wonderful things about America. You can protect your intellectual property.

Add-on accessories creates value for the customers and to Palm by the expandability of the device.
Yet, such people are taking immediate advantage, often unethically, of any circumstance of possible benefit to make life difficult by using this position of theirs to exploit. It just sick me to the core!

The difference is that Microsoft is not part of the day to day english language, palm is. It is obvious from mypalm.com that the domain owner has a Palm OS computer, but that doesn't deflect from his right to register mypalm.com for his own use if he is not trying to gain revenue from the Palm company name.
Sting (the singer) had a similar problem when he tried to get sting.com off the person with the same nickname who registered the domain in 1995. He loast because sting was part of the general language, and the domain name holder was not making any attempt to either sell the domain or profit from the singers name. (As it happens Sting did end up buying the domain so sting.com is now the singers official site).

* part of the world in Asia.
Yes, it's common practice in the Valley as well. The unethical marketing droids expect you to run up an expensive tab by taking them out for dinner, drinks, and sometimes girls.
I've done business in Asia before and seen the same practices. In Japan, they take you to a hostess bar and I won't even get into SOAPLAND, which makes anything in the Valley look like a G-rated movie.
