Iambic Releases Agendus For Windows
Iambic announced it has released two versions of iambic Agendus for Windows; iambic Agendus for Windows Standard Edition and iambic Agendus for Windows Professional Edition. The program is 100 percent compatible with both Palm Desktop and Outlook data. It reads and writes both formats, allowing the user to have immediate access to all information available on Palm Desktop or Outlook. Agendus for Windows synchronizes with Agendus for Palm.
Agendus for Windows allows the user to link contacts to calls, meetings and to-dos on the PC. The program tracks all contacts, displays contact histories, and analyzes all contact interactions and communications. The application adds new calendar views with rich color support and color icons, and shows all contact links.
The address list offers multiple sorting and grouping options. New mapping capability allows the user to get maps and driving directions directly from the Internet and for any contact in the address book. Multi-line item descriptions can be displayed in the calendar without abbreviation, while the email integration feature allows the user to send emails to contacts within Agendus with a single click. In addition, the program has filtering capabilities allowing the user to organize contacts by any category, such as country, company, or alphabetically, and search contacts through many available filters.
The application brings to Windows a number of handheld device-specific features, such as an integrated icon editor and a conduit that allows synchronization of icons between the Palm and the PC. The program includes WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) icon editor for Windows, which enables the user to edit icons on the screen and immediately view the changes, as well as synchronize icons between desktop and handheld device.
Agendus for Windows works with but does not require Agendus for Palm OS handhelds, which is sold separately. The program can be utilized on all Windows PC and Palm OS handheld devices. Both editions are now available via download from Iambic's web site. Iambic Agendus for Windows Standard Edition retails for $39.95 and iambic Agendus for Windows Professional Edition retails for $59.95.

How's that possible?
The first PalmPilot (Pilot 1000) was released in 1996.

It's a rip off
Not only that, we still don't have HandEra support.

I've been a customer a Burger King for years, and now
that they released a new sandwich they didn't give me
a discount... Seems these guys don't give a damn either.
What a rip-off -- I actually have to pay for a product.
RE: It's a rip off
I'm also mad because I still don't have Newton support with the latest release of Agendus. Hey, if the Handera guys can get mad about lack of support for a defunct platform, so can I.

Beware of Iambic
Bottom line...there are reputable companies out there with products at least as good as Iambics. But, it's your dollar...

An interesting side note is that PocketPCThoughts (mentioned a couple of days ago re the Dana discussion) have yet to mention this release at all. This seems odd - except that it is a Palm product attempting to displace a MSoft linked one. So maybe that is why it is not mentioned on a pro-MSoft site.
Happily trying to sync an iPod, Palm m505, T68i and PowerBook G4. Life is so simple!
RE: Beware of Iambic
"I also ignore the "Rebels Without a (Worthwhile) Cause" who shun Agendus because of a bad decision made by iambic. Throughout the whole mess, the folks who I really felt the most for were the talented programmers at iambic. Given all evidence, it appears that the whole datebk5.com domainname hijack was the brainturd of one or a few at iambic and the guys who actually designed and implemented this nifty program got dragged through the mud along with the true weasels.
To those that still think using Agendus makes you feel dirty because of the immoral and highly questionable marketing tactics, I hope you aren't using any Microsoft products...that might make you something
of a hypocrite.
If you're really interested in finding out what works for *you*, don't be influenced by these members of the Church of the Latter-Day Irrelevant and Inconsistent Critics."
So what operating system are you using "Palmcicle"? I would hate to think you're using a product from a company with a reputation for sneaky and strongarm business tactics.

Till recently however, iambic had an excellent reputation and never failed to get a good showing from happy customers. People were happy with the product, the service and the way they did businness. I guess it stung a little when they realised that they might be wrong. (and I emphasis the might) We would do well to accept that mistakes do happen on occassion and move forward
But on the other hand, the issue can't just be swept under the rug. iambic have an obligation to prove that they made once off very bad business decision. Time will tell.
As for me, well I've got a long memory, but I also think that iambic are worth a second chance. I'm going to try the new desktop version and see if I like it.
Another worthless 2c
