Hexacto releases Lemonade Tycoon for the Palm OS

Following the success of Lemonade Inc. on the Pocket PC platform, Hexacto has introduced a Palm OS version of the strategy game. Lemonade Tycoon for Palm features all the same intelligent gameplay, colorful animated graphics and humorous twists as on the Pocket PC. Lemonade Tycoon is a business simulation/strategy title that provides a fun and challenging learning experience.

You start with a small lemonade stand and a few dollars in your pocket. Check the latest weather forecast and try to pick the best location for your stand, tweak your lemonade recipe, set your prices and manage your inventory. Re-invest your profits and streamline your production methods to earn the best margins out of every workday. Make the wrong decisions and you’ll be on your way to bankruptcy faster than you think… Make the right ones, and you just might take your enterprise to the top!

LemonadeLemonade Inc. earned the Best Pocket PC Strategy Game in Pocket PC Magazine's 2002 Best Products Awards. The gameplay provided by Lemonade Tycoon is suited for handheld devices; Lemonade Tycoon should therefore find its way to other mobile devices such as wireless phones in the very near future. A 320x320 version of the game with added features is also in the works and will be available shortly as a free upgrade to Lemonade Tycoon owners.

Lemonade Tycoon for Palm is available for $19.95 on Hexacto's website and through online e-tailers. The game will also become available in retail stores shortly. Hexacto is also working on other Palm titles, including Worms World Party, Slurp, Pop’s Pipes and The Emperor’s Mahjong.

Color problems on TT

bcombee @ 11/14/2002 4:35:08 PM #
On my Tungsten T, I had a problem with a lot of text being drawn with a bad background color. Other than that, the game played entirely in low-res. It would be nice to see it take advantage of the new high-density API.

If you are going to buy it, sign up for the Hexacto newsletter to get a $5 off coupon.

Hey wait a minute, I just ran some test code on a TT. The device is only using 8-bit color mode, so you will only be able to get 256 colors! This is bogus! Perhaps it is a limitation of the HW or processor?

actually the demo apparently only has up to 256 colors... wut kinda game only uses 256 colours???? It looks fairly ok, but i'd rather save my money for worms world party.

I believe a HiRes version is in the works, and will be a free upgrade.

hi res doesn't necessarily mean that they'll increase the bit depth.

Not really sure you understood what I meant when I said the device only supports 8-bit color. Even if the application changed to hi-res (16-bit), the HW would only be able to support 256 colors concurrently. Seems pretty lame to me!

Huh? The Tungsten T can be put in 16-bit color mode. Where did you get the idea that it couldn't handle this?

$5 off, as mentioned in the post by bcombee

BobT @ 11/14/2002 5:17:47 PM #
I tried. The "checkout window" stated "no items in basket are eligible for discount". Being a brand new release, perhaps Lemonade is an exception. I emailed Handango (they process the orders for Hexacto) today about this but have yet to receive a reply. However, I felt the game was worth the $20 and purchased it. Besides, the demo lasted about 2 hours on my Clie. :-) (Love them biz games.)

I got to agree with you, that's one addictive game, and easy to get into too! :)

It would be nice if it was higher res or colour depth, but it's still a good game.

New games... good sign!

abosco @ 11/14/2002 7:23:50 PM #
With new games coming that could take advantage of the new blazing processors of OS 5, this game could be the start of the gaming revolution of Palm OS. With games like WWP and this immensly popular Lemonade game, gaming could be just as graphic intensive and possibly surpass the PPC platform in quality of games. Good sign!

Thats whats bothering me; theres probably no OS5 enhanced gameware yet except Bejewelled.. and well, a puzzle game doesn't really take any advantage of it. I saw a couple really impressive looking games demoed on OS5, but don't recall what they are.. and they're not out yet. I say "show me the games!". Who cares if its only been two weeks.. I'm a consumer, I want it *now* ;)

I really want an OS 5 Version of this..... this is the kind of game that deserves the High-Res treatment.... I can only hope it will be soon.
