PalmSource Sets Date for Euro Dev Conference

PalmSource announced today that its European Developer Conference will take place in Munich Germany, on September 22 and 23, 2003. At the two-day conference, to take place during Munich's internationally famous Oktoberfest, European Palm OS developers will receive the latest information about the Palm OS platform and learn about the most recent mobile device developments from Palm OS licensees.

Registration opens today with a special discounted sign-up promotion of only euro 150 -- with the first 300 registrants receiving a special complementary invitation to a dinner held at one of the major Oktoberfest tents. Developers can register on the PalmSource website.

PalmSource's European Developer conference builds on the success of its recent US conference, in San Mateo, California. The conferences are structured to address both the technical and business information needs of developers. The two-day agenda will include:

  • Presentations from senior PalmSource executives, world-class Palm OS licensees, strategic partners and other industry leaders, covering technical and business trends in the mobile device market;
  • Labs and networking events offering new and experienced developers access to "hands-on" information and advice on how to take advantage of the evolving Palm OS platform and the development of cutting-edge Palm Powered(TM) mobile devices. Developers will also learn how to successfully market their Palm OS applications;
  • The European Powered Up Awards, created by PalmSource to honour the most innovative and original applications from European developers;
  • Partnership activities specifically designed to foster relationships between the European developer community and established PalmSource business partners;
  • PalmSource "Boot-Camp" for new developers -- for those new to Palm OS, a special session will take place on Sunday 21st September (during the afternoon preceding the opening of the conference) where PalmSource engineers will offer European developers a basic tutorial on how to program for Palm OS.

"More than 270,000 registered developers who have produced over 18,000 applications targeting all areas of personal and professional mobile device usage make up a healthy Palm Economy," said Jean-Marc Holder, PalmSource Europe's director of marketing. "PalmSource's European Developer conference is a great place for developers to have direct contact with PalmSource technical staff and business experts to learn about the latest technical developments of the Palm OS platform, and how to successfully bring Palm OS applications to market.

In addition to the U.S. Developer Conference, which was held May 5-6, 2003 in San Mateo, California, PalmSource's series of international developer conferences continues with the European Developer Conference, Sept. 22-23, 2003 in Munich, Germany, and a developer conference in Beijing, China in the fall of 2003.
