Palm Hires New Brand Designer Executive

Palm has hired a new Senior Vice President according to the latest check of its management team directory at palm.com. Jeff Zwerner is now the new SVP of Brand Design. Hires of this level are usually accompanied by a press release or SEC filling, this one seems to have largely flown under the radar.

His bio at Palm states Jeff will apply his expertise in strategic brand design and management to Palm's global advertising, marketing communications, PR, events and web design. Mr. Zwerner comes to Palm from his own design consultancy and he also did a few stints at Apple according to his LinkedIn page.

There is a preliminary Form 3 filing

That is a Form 3 ("Here's what I own" )to be followed by a Form 4 ("Here's what we gave him") possibly followed by a Form 8k ("Hey! Something's changed with top level management!").

Can anyone name a wildly successful company whom was run by mostly ex-Apple people? One piece of advice I have heard is that if you ever interview at a start-up and found out that all the founders are recent ex-Apple, stop the interview, scream at loud and you can and run out of the building before the "six-colors curse" affects you.

The closest I can think of is NeXt, which Jobs ran and Apple acquired. Their software became what is now OS X. Beyond that, I'm glad I'm not the only one noticing that "ex-Apple" has become a common theme at Palm. I'm not sure yet if that's a good thing or not.

Did Mike Con ever buy a Pre?

Nope, Mike's still tyring to get in a good Pre fondle without Sprint sales droids hovering nearby.

My prediction: he'll never get one unless Palm releases a "Pre Touch" PDA-type WebOS device, in which case he'll get a secondhand model two years down the line.

Here's a blast from the past for anyone who was around "back in the day". Seems Diane Hackborn found her way over to the Android core technical team way back in 2006.

Those DH/TVOR wars were legendary. (I think he actually had a crush on her, but being socially awkward, didn't know how to express it.) ;-)
