IMAP IDLE Confirmed on the Pre

imap idle prePreCentral is reporting some interesting news on the Palm Pre email front. The site claims to have confirmed that the Pre will fully support the IMAP IDLE protocol for a push email like experience on supporting systems.

IMAP IDLE is a specific protocol of the IMAP email server standard. It was developed to provide a near real-time push email like experience. Many IMAP servers support this command such as the popular Gmail service, which is expected to work out of the box on the Pre.

I was waiting for this. Boasting that it works with Exchange Server is of little use to 90% of us.
