ProfiMail v3.0 Released

Lonely Cat Games has released version 3.0 of its ProfilMail email client for Windows Mobile devices. ProfiMail is an excellent alternative to the built in Pocket Outlook as it offers a number of advanced features, a more efficient interface and speedier operation all around. ProfiMail supports all the basics including POP3 and IMAP and has just added support for IMAP IDLE giving users a real-time push like email experience from providers that support IDLE connections such as Gmail. In addition the app includes support for HTML email, rules and filters, integrated attachment viewing including Office documents and zip files, a built in file browser, address auto completion and a lot more. This latest version also adds a new today screen plugin.

ProfiMail v3.0 is available now with a free trial period. It sells for $31.99 USD. It is compatible with Windows Mobile 5 and 6 devices as well as Symbian s60 an UIQ.

Applications like this are a painful reminder why the last few remaining Palm users live on a steady diet of Alcohol and anti-depressants.

The screenshot isn't the best or most representative of this app... however I have to say it is a very good email program and it easily trumps Pocket Outlook (unless you need exchange stuff). its also better than anything on palm os but unfortunately is not available for it. Anyway, now that it has imap idle support, you can get the full push email experience with gmail or any other imap account that supports it.

I think it's a personal thing. I have used Profimail but I still prefer Chatter on Palm. Sorry if this goes against the usual negative stance towards anything Palm!

Once upon on a time I used their email client for Symbian S60 (depicted in the screenshot) on Nokia a E61. While I will grant its ugly UI betrays its underlying power, there are times when bad design cancels out good utility.

Speaking of shamefully bad design. I see TealPoint software is still around - poisoning the mobile software landscape with their hideous software.
