PowerSDHC Driver Released for Palm PDAs
Dmitry Grinberg has released the first full release version of his SDHC driver for Palm handhelds. The software updates the memory cards drivers for certain Palm PDA's so that they can read and write to larger SDHC compatible cards of 4 GB and higher.
PowerSDHC is available now for $20.95. There is a free trial version for which you have to register for a trial key. The driver is currently compatible with the Palm TX, LifeDrive, Tungsten T5, C, E2, Zire 31 and Zire 72 models. Dmitry says he plans on adding support for the Tungsten T3, E and Tapwave Zodiac soon.

PowerSDHC on my TX
Testing the speed of my 2gb using CardSpeed showed a significant increase in speed for that card when using PowerSDHC over the built-in Palm card driver. (Of course I can't test the speed difference on the 8gb card.) ;) Unfortunately, you get what you pay for, and my 8gb card is quite a bit slower than my 150x 2gb card. They didn't bother to advertise the speed, so I suspect it is a very slow card.
I'll mention that after installing the trial key, I needed to do a soft reset, not just restart the driver before the key took.

RE: PowerSDHC on my TX
Two more notes.
It does work fine with CardReader (an app that turns the card into a mass storage device when the Palm is connected with a computer). For some reason it shows up with four different drives in the CardReader, but unchecking the other three of them eliminated "empty" drives from showing up on the computer.
If you are using your SDHC card for regular backups, you need to plan for how you are going to get the restore off of that card in the case of a hard reset. In my case, I keep a second card in my case with Filez, PowerSDHC, and the Key file for PowerSDHC. After using Filez to copy over the other two files to RAM, I can then read from the SDHC card to do the system restore. Maybe someone else has a better idea, but that's the one I came up with, and it does work.
