palmOne is offering the first mobile application of Send Word Now, the leading web-based emergency notification service, on Treo 650 and Treo 600 smartphones for quickly notifying decision-makers or employees during a crisis or unexpected situations.

palmOne Treo Smartphones Mobile group communication is now available to handle corporate security, business continuity, or other everyday emergencies. Recipients can be notified via multiple voice, email or text devices within minutes. Gift of Life Michigan, one of the nation's 58 federally designated organ-recovery organizations, is the first company to deploy Send Word Now for Treo smartphones to speed organ and tissue donations to patients on waiting lists.

Initiate a conference call immediately with multiple people in their contacts list;
Send messages with the Treo 650 and Treo 600 smartphones to any device via voice, email or text message;
Provide message recipients with response options;
Track and verify message delivery and collect real-time responses;
Organize real-time responses;
Organize contacts and send targeted messages to any user-defined group; and
Register to receive alerts directly on the Treo smartphone.

PalmOne probably developed this for in-house use and is trying to market it to others for extra ca$h. They are waiting for PSRC to dip below $0.50/shr, then conference call, then load the wagon @ $0.50 - $0.80/shr, then notify all PSRC execs that their fired, then do a press release, then get all the good PSRC employees a welcome back notification ... all before 4:30PST. :-)

... then get word from LG, that their backing out of the license due to conflict of interest. :-o

What about push to talk?

Sounds like most of this can lready be done on a Treo.
In NZ and other markets Push to talk is available where I can talk to my team instantly. Would pretty much cover it I think.
