RE: Do not buy this phone
Plus, Palm has shown no interest in helping out people who bought the unlocked phone by updating the OS to fix some of the bugs.
Just say NO
Peace Out

RE: Do not buy this phone
BTW never had a smartphone before but every phone I have ever owned glitches for one reason or another. So Treo has been pretty good considering what I try to make it do!

Nokia N810
I'm curious why there isnt much discussion about the Nokia N810 coupled with Garnet VM? This appears to be the device that many of of at PIC have been clamoring for for years. Is there a "downside" to this device that I'm not seeing or is it simply that the Garnet VM is still in beta that is hindering its wider acceptance?
I'm just curious because I have been wanting to upgrade my TX for a while but haven't had anything to upgrade too... am I just so desperate that the N810 looks good even though it isn't?... or is it really good and just not many are talking about it?... or is it simply that the jury is still out?
I just thought PIC would be a buzz about a device like this?!?
Thanks!
Eek

RE: Nokia N810
I am in a similar spot. My Treo 650 is dying and Palm has no upgrade path. Paying full price for what is essentially the same crashtastic device again is not an option.
The N810 looks like the best option.
the complete lack of a decent PIM and quality third party apps are it's main weaknesses.
Doesn't the Garnet VM help take care of those issues?
RE: Nokia N810
Thats the idea behind the GarnetVM emulator (www.access-company.com/products/gvm/)... you get all the benefit of Nokia nice hardware AND the PIM functionality and ability to run Palm apps in a Garnet "virtual machine".
In "theory" its the best of both worlds... how it actually works in practice I don't know.
BUT in my humble opinion this is the most exciting piece of "Palm news I have seen in a couple of years. I was just curious if anyone else was jazzed about it besides me?
RE: Nokia N810
Haven't read up on the N810 yet, but I'd be curious to know how well the Garnet emulator integrates into the device. I remember the early StyleTap implementations were not very impressive (beyond the technical feat itself), and the lack of a built-in physical keyboard or Graffiti One on iPhones and the Nokia tablet makes them inferior for surfing and other tasks over the Treo.
