Audio Gateway 1.10 Beta Offers Treo 680 Support
Softick have updated Softick Audio Gateway, the popular Bluetooth A2DP app for Palm OS devices. A beta of version 1.10 is now available and adds support for the Treo 680. Despite some issues with phone calls, most users on the Softick forums are reporting success in listening to music via a few different varieties of Bluetooth headphones. In a post on the forum, developer Arseniy Prusov said:
"We feel that 1.10 is not ideal version, that's why it is BETA, not release. Finally, it is compatible with Treo 680, but there are some problems with calls handling. This is a tradition: every phone model (650, 700, 680) has different (and non-brilliant) headset manager logic, that's why we have to work tightly with phone module for every device."
The latest official version 1.09 of SAG, with improved support for the Treo 700p, is available from the PIC software store. It sells for $19.95 and a free trial is available. The v1.10 beta can be found at Softick.

RE: Wow! What a Statement!
(I'm not pleased with the way my 680's headset jack broke after barely a month of usage... but that's a whole 'nother story.)
SAG is one of my favourite pieces of software, and it's good to see Softick are keeping up-to-date with the new Treos.

Wow! What a Statement!
**This is a tradition: every phone model (650, 700, 680) has different (and non-brilliant) headset manager logic, that's why we have to work tightly with phone module for every device.**
Non-brilliant. That says it all about Palm's cheesy BT implementation. Let's see how many tech light years ago was the Tungsten T (Oslo!) released? Still Palm has not seen possible to build on that original work to create a BT implementation that is stable and comprehensively compatible. I might give em' some slack, but gosh, their not even releasing the latest BT standard!
What surprises me is that another company just shoots straight about this right outta the gate. Good work Softick. You have created at least one new consumer with warm fuzzies about your brand.
