Circuit City Sale Pricing on Z22 and E2

Palm Tungten E2Circuit City is running a sale on the Palm E2 and Z22 handhelds on their webstore. The updated price of the Z22 is now $74.99 after mail-in-rebate with free shipping. This is a discount of 25% from the standard $99.99 MSRP.

The E2 Bonus Pack (a Circuit City exclusive bundle comprising the regular E2 package plus a brown leather flip case and Astraware's Sudoku game on CD) has a super low $179.99 price after instant discount (no rebate required). The E2 has free shipping as well.

The Palm TX is also discounted to a low $254.99 with instant savings but the item is currently sold out online.

This sale could either be a temporary sale by Circuit City or a limited-quanity, inventory clearance blowout of their final remaining PDA stock. Of course this could also be an early sign of an imminent lower MSRP adjustment from Palm to keep sales strong of their remaining handhelds models. Either way, the above prices are quite good (especially the E2 bundle) for a new Palm device from a reputable retailer.

(Thanks, Techbargains!)

The end approaches

All the PDAs on sale and the T/X is out of stock. Is it: 1. just a sale? 2. clearane for new models? 3. the beginning of the end of the PDA? Better watch closely so you can stock up if it's #3.

I hope it's #2 because my Tungsten C sure is long in the tooth. And like many, I don't want to go the smartphone route. I prefer the bigger screen of a pda, and I am often on the phone when I want to check something on my Palm. I also don't want my cell provider crippling features or limiting my internet access.

Here's hoping for a Lifedrive/TX hybrid with capacious flash memory. That's the easy part. Trying to figure out what Palm will do with the OS is harder.
