Palm Pre Disassembly Photos
The site RapidRepair.com has posted a complete Palm Pre tear-down and photo gallery. The how to walks through (in nearly sickening detail) the Pre's disassembly processes and comes complete with some nice high resolution photos.

RE: Two thoughts
But I don't see your point 1. Where are you seeing a gap?
I gotta say that the disassembly on the the Pre makes hardware hacking my TX look like child's play. No way I'd try opening the Pre up.
Hey Palm! Where's my PDA with Wifi and phone capabilities?

1. Seems to have a giant gap - my guess is that this is where the expansion card module would have been...
2. If you look at the bottom right side of the board in the picture you can see that the circuit was completely torn from the board... in other words, the Pre in the picture is murdered... not very good if you planned to open it for repairs and such.
