He really knows what he's talking about. I don't know how much of the interview was scripted and rehearsed, but he seems really passionate about the Pre.

He's going about it with the right attitude; there's room for everyone. Everything he said made sense. I think Palm has a bright future.

Yep, that's exactly how I've been looking at the launch of the Pre and webOS. I think they've gotten a lot of mileage from the Palm name. That's been an advantage a lot of "startups" don't have.

If this product from this "new" company is what you've been waiting for, I guess you're in luck. I'm not yet seeing that there's a good "synergy" between my needs and the Pre/webOS solution. But as usual, YMMV.

I was hesitant to take the time to watch this after seeing his previous Tom Cruise-like evangelism on the late night circuit and even up to the Mossberg interview, but I'm glad I did. His measured but enthusiastic approach in this interview goes a long way father towards justifying his vision of a new foothold for Palm.

After taking in the launch and resulting news/conjecture about launch "success" metrics, it was nice to see him take a step back and spend some time reiterating he perspective and strategy. Specifically giving credit to Apple and their success and Palm's goal of carving its own niche is restores some credibility lost with his past ravings about a mass exodus from the iPhone base.
