Meet My Pre, Episode II: Attack of the Nail Salon
Monday, August 24, 2009 7:03:45 PM
Bell's series of "man on the street" Palm Pre vox pops continues today, with the release of episode 2 of "Meet My Pre". Bradley (does he have a last name, or is he like Cher?) totes the Pre along to a Canadian nail salon and does his damndest to impress the girls. Two seem impressed, but facial lady? Not quite.
You can keep up with the series at Bell's "Meet My Pre" Facebook page. Embed after the break.

RE: The Appeal of the Mundane
funny how you mention the mirror - notice how unimpressed Facial Lady is by it? The expression on her face at the end made me LOL
RE: The Appeal of the Mundane
You know I actually had occasion to use the mirror today. I had something in my eye. The mirror is pretty useless but I suppose it does look cooler than more black plastic. Now that makes me LOL.

The Appeal of the Mundane
In any case, it's interesting that the commercial takes the gee-whiz aspects of the Pre, Synergy and multi-tasking, and presents them as ordinary and mundane. In a world where phones trade on sex appeal, Bell is going against the grain in taking what is supposed to be stylish and presenting it as ordinary and turning that ordinariness into it's appeal for customers. This is one of those "it's just crazy enough to work plans." Everybody zigs by going for glamor. Bell zags by going for ordinariness. It reminds me of a line from the 80's show Square Pegs, "I really like you two. You've got no style. It's a totally different head."
Totally.
