webOS 1.2 Now Available

palm webos 1.2"By the end of next week" might have been a little pessimistic: webOS 1.2 is now available for over-the-air update. A friendly reminder: remove all patches and tweaks from your Pre before updating, because no one likes having to take their phone to the Doctor. And yes, developers, the Mojo SDK webOS emulator has also been updated.

Reportedly, the update does not fix the broken iTunes 9 sync, so it seems Palm are going to play nice with the USB-IF and let Apple dictate how their own hardware should work after all. In happier news, it also brings the ability to download files within the browser, email searching within the Email app, Amazon mp3 downloads over EVDO and proper cut-and-paste within web pages and emails.

The list of major changes and updates found in webOS 1.2 can be found at Palm Support.

Just a thought away

Is anyone working on an OS for we-com virtual wallet that will work with a removable hard drive?

ET!! You're back!!!

Sources deep inside Palm tell me that webOS is very people-driven and Palm are big fans of we-com, striving towards a harmonious future for all.

Sorry no face book. Just thoughts no face. Is there a thought book? Perhaps Twitter is like a thought book. I have been thinking much about energy … particularly kWh energy from sea, wind and solar technology. Need that and e-motion (electricity from motion: walking cycling, rowing,) ext. Need electricity for we-com interaction so thinking about the E in e-tellurian and we-com is logical.

If you were putting a crew together to globally sale e-knarr with win-win in mind whom would you choose to add to the people we already have?

:-(lol) that sounds familiar.

Well we must not forget the core of the crew which is Bluetooth SIG, Research Advanced Virtual Electronic Nation and Wireless World Research Forum.

Nice group of friends. Perhaps e-knarr will become a friendship.

Peace,

This must be why I couldn't access the Update app and App Catalog a couple of minutes ago. I'm downloading the update right now....

Aaaaargh! It still has that stupid memory limit that won't allow me to install more than 50 or so apps. Back to Preware!

Posting this from a city bus from my netbook tethered to my Pre. I was worried that My Tether might not make it through the upgrade. Nice.

Curious. I have 1.2 installed but the Updates app still insists that 1.2 is available and that I will "be notified when the update is ready to install." Not the smoothest roll out of an update but Palm has done worse....

I know the code was commented out of the leaked 1.2, but you'd have to figure it's not that complicated a feature. They couldn't get it ready in the intervening weeks?

Bizarre. oh well, that's another tweak for Jason to update in WebOS Quick Install...

no itunes syncing??

The Class Action Lawsuit for selling the Palm Pre with the bullet-point promise of iTunes syncing coming in 3.... 2.... 1....

Still, Palm has bigger concerns to worry about - such as staying out of bankruptcy.
