RoadWriter Offers Keyboard and Mount for Cars
Revolve Design announced today the launch of RoadWriter™, which helps users to turn their Palm handheld into a mobile office. RoadWriter mounts securely in a car and has an integrated touch-type keyboard as well as dual DB9 Serial pass-through ports at its base for use with external peripherals, such as GPS receivers or wireless modems. It is available with an optional Palm handheld battery charger system.
Prices for the RoadWriter vary between $130 and $235, depending on the model.
RoadWriter can be installed into the vehicle with a Quick Release, easy latch pedestal, with no need for drilling or permanent placement. The Palm handheld can also quickly be inserted and removed from RoadWriter with the touch of a button.
RoadWriter is compatible with the Palm III series, Palm VII series, Symbol SPT1500 and TRG Pro. RoadWriter for the Handspring Visor and Palm V will be available in the upcoming months.
"Handheld computers are fast becoming the central source for nearly all the vital information workers use throughout the day. With so many workers and mobile professionals spending large amounts of time in vehicles, the need for having vital information at one's fingertips is essential. RoadWriter gives the mobile user a secure place to mount their handheld, a keyboard for easy data entry/access and enhanced tools for two-way wireless communications." says Michael Shawver, president of Revolve Design.

It will be completely useful for people to futz with a mounted keyboard in their car. More work for EMTs and coroners, not to mention the morgue and towtruck services.

nor promoted, for this purpose. Many fields of business require wireless laptop or
dedicated terminal use while pulled over: Real estate, law enforcement, transportation,
field sales or service - the bulk of our customer base. This need is not going away,
and our products provide a very low cost alternative to these conventional solutions.

Yeah... really useful...
Why don't you make the "skateboard" device??? At most, it will sound cool.
Please CREATE something too much useful than a keyboard for the Palm.

RoadWriter holds the Palm securely in a moving vehicle unlike other keyboard solutions.
