Quickies: PageMaker, BART, Palmchat Giveaway

The latest version of PageMaker allows users to save files in the PDF format used by handheld devices. The Acrobat Reader for the Palm is required to read them. -Ed

The San Fransisco BART has introduced BART QuickPlanner, a free app that allows riders to easily check schedules and other information. -Ed

WorldWide Widget Works is donating two Palm GamePads to #palmchat on the OpenProjects IRC network today. To connect, type /server irc.openprojects.net then /join #palmchat in the IRC client of your choice. The giveaway will run from 8:30 pm to 12:30 am EDT. The BART app is a lifesaver for people like me who ride at odd hours and at different times. 3 cheers for an app done RIGHT.

What I need (as new San Francisco resident) is an accurate MUNI planner... just a thought if any Palm programming people are looking for a challenge.

BART scheduler (http://www.cs.berkeley.edu/~wittman/bart-scheduler/) is another alternative which has been available for a while and only takes 28k instead of the 145k required by the new program, which is an issue if you're like me and only have 2 megs of memory. The main differences are it doesn't have maps and you can't store trips.

Um... wouldn't MUNI have to FOLLOW their schedule for a Palm app to be of any value :)

Like BART is ever running right! What gets me is that, though the system is falling apart, elevtors are busted and most the escelators (that I use are out), they felt it necessary to get a new database driven site and a Palm app! How about using that extra money (and the thousands/millions from discarded passes) to running some post 2am trains!
