Charitable Donations Pour in to Help WTC Victims (Updated)
A little over a week after the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, many Palm-related companies are doing their part to help.
Palm Inc. has donated $5 million worth of products to the eBay Auction for America to benefit the United Way's September 11 fund. Last week, Handspring gave 5 hundred Visor Deluxes and VisorPhones to emergency workers in New York City. VoiceStream Wireless provided free airtime. Handspring is also organizing an internal donation drive, and the company will match employee donations up to $10,000.
Qvadis and Editio-Books have pledged to donate to the Red Cross 50% of all proceeds from sales of Express Reader GT, DX and Pro from now to Sept 30. Fictionwise is offering all proceeds of the ebook Braving the Flames through October 11 to the Widows and Children's Fund of the Uniformed Firefighters Association.
VisorCentral is sponsoring a charity auction to benefit the Red Cross.
Update: Think Outside and Blue Nomad donated 500 keyboards and copies of WordSmith respectively to the American Red Cross in Greater New York to go with the Visors Handspring donated.
