Quickies: GoType!, Backdrop GC 2.0, and Palm Japan

Handspring Visor series GoType! keyboard from Landware is available during the holidays for $50, a $20 savings. -David P

Twilight Edge Software has released Backdrop GC 2.0, its wallpaper application for 160x160 color devices which allows the user to install FireViewer images as screen backgrounds. It features a completely new graphics engine which will let 16-bit devices display the foreground in 256 colors. Improved app settings controls and OS 4.1 support have also been added. -Anon

Palm Japan Inc. has cut prices. The m100 costs 4900yen (about $40), the m105 is 17800yen (about $143), the m500 costs 24800yen (about $200) while the m505 is 34800yen (about $280). Of course, these are Japanese version of Palm machines. -Anon

Hopefully, that's a move to a launch of new product(s).

The Clies has been out for several months and those doofs from Twilight Edge are releasing BackdropGC that doesnt support 320x320. Its a great program but they need to get their acts together. 160x160 wont be around for very much longer.

Yeah, I emailed them several days ago (when it was released) and asked if they will implement 320x320 any time soon, or if they are EVEN CONSIDERING IT. and no answers yet. bleh.

what about Palm price in US???

gee, that's low... when will this price reflected in US? True, they are Japanese OS, but, they also have more ROM (so if you can flash the English OS to replace the Japanese OS, it means that you have more ROM available (by Jack Flash or similar software))...

Go type for the M505

Landware doesn't make a version for the m500 series. At least one isn't available at this point. I'd suggest you take a look at an equivalent keyboard for the m505, Think Outside's Stowaway (www.thinkoutside.com). It is more expensive, though.

I received an email saying that they will release a GoType! for the m500/m505/m125 in January!
