RE: SD card pricing
Holy Cow!
Too bad the TSABros didn't enter their "DragonDemo" into the competition (high res demo, released a LONG time ago for the Clie)

Where's the 128MB MS?

Also, why is it that all the attention and development seems to be going to SD cards when the MMC cards are actually more consumer friendly, in that, you actually get to use all of the memory that you are buying? SD cards have part of their memory taken by the DRM software built into each card. MMC cards are cheaper and, it seems to me, with some development could be faster and have large capacity.

MMC is cheaper, but the speed is another issue. I bought one to see if I should switch, but SD was twice as fast as MMC. I took the MMC back to the store without even leaving the parking lot.
RE: Where's the 128MB MS?
Certainly, MMC's have not topped out at 64MB and since they have been around longer than SD cards shouldn't we be seeing faster 128MB, 254MB and 512MB capacity MMCs by now?

My Palm m105 is my baby, but is that child abuse when I drop it?

(the fact that you have no idea what all those space can be used for underline the lateness of Palm app development)

Data and content!
When I take my MP3s with me, I want more Musik than on two regular music-CDs. When I use the Kinoma I want to watch a complete movie that takes up approx. 240 MB. I want to take my E-Book-Library with me and use the Palm Reader Dictionary (E-Books = 6 MB, Dictionary = 8 MB).
It's all about content!
Demo programs V.S. HiRes?
Come on, programmers! It's time to work on HiRes!
It was a technology for more than 16 month old!
The contest is for m505 hardware (160x160)
If you can't check them out on your Clie, at least download POSE and an m505 ROM and run them that way. The demos are VERY impressive, and show just the kind of incredible things that can be done with PalmOS when programmers get into the nitty-gritty of coding in assembly language.
If this is what they can do with PalmOS 4, I can't wait to see what the demo coders come up with under OS 5 & 6 on ARM processors!

the demo competition was targeted specifically for the m505 units - as, they are sold worldwide and have a large presence nearly everywhere. sure, they are not the latest and greatest - but, it is something that nearly everyone can get their hands on to do some real time testing of their demos :) lets not forget that the m505 has a seperate display controller which can be tweaked.
we would have really liked to run the contest with the sony units instead - however, sony hasn't put enough effort into making their units "out there" especially within the scandinavian market (where, i am located) and, where most of the demo coders live [at least, in the PC scene] :)
palm demos was a new venture. we were not sure how it would be, what type of applications would be created - but, we are amazed by the results we have! there is definately some cool programs out there - and, most will run on non m505 hardware (if not, there is normally a "GENERIC" version for other units). try them out, vote for them. the top four overall of course win PalmOS based units - not bad for such a small program :)

RE: Demo programs V.S. HiRes?
I am surprised that I didn't hear much Anti-SONY statements after I started the topic for this discussion.
No offense to typical 160 x 160 devices, I just thought if they can do the demo program on 320x320, I believe the result will turn out much better than they are now.
