SanDisk 16GB microSD Card Available
The PalmInfocenter Store has just added a 16GB SanDisk microSD card. The microSDHC card is rated SD class 2 with a 2 MB per second minimum write speed. The 16GB card is available now.
With the addition above, the price has also recently come down on other microSD cards sizes in the store. The SanDisk 8GB microSD is now $54.95, various 4GB cards start around $34.95 and there are a number of 2GB's available starting at $24.95.

can the Palm OS read 16GB SD's???
Can the Palm OS even recognize 16GB of space on a SD card? I had thought that the Palm OS maxed out at 8GB??
I would love to have 16GB of storage on my Centro to store more MP3's and videos.
Thanks!
Eric

However, I think most of the Palm OS Treo's and Centro top out at 4gb.

FAT32 support w/o official SDHC support:
Palm LifeDrive & TX (both work fine with the unofficial SD 1.1 4gb cards from A-Data, Transcend, Patriot etc.
FAT32 + 4GB SDHC support:
Treo 680 (all ROM versions)
Treo 700w/wx/ + 700p (may require the latest ROM updates)
Treo 755p
Centro
Treo 750/800w/Pro
SDHC uses sector addressing vs. byte addressing used on the older SD spec.
Garnet can sorta work with storage cards larger than 8gb but it will not be seen as one contiguous chunk of space. Rather, the OS will "see" it in ~4GB chunks. This is acceptable on an 8gb card where it's basically just 2x4gb halves but 16gb can start to get tricky.
I would personally just keep 4gb or smaller cards on my Garnet device. This, IMO, has been Palm's single biggest "FAIL" as far as keeping Garnet semi-viable relative to the competition.
Your average Joe six-pack (or his teenybopper daughter) won't know/care if their smartphone has multi-tasking/multi-threading OS. They may not even care of it's EDGE or HSPA. But they will raise holy hell if they try to turn it into an "iPhone with a keyboard" by buying a cheap 8gb or 16gb card and loading up their music on it and their Centro freaks out. Palm should have spent the $ resources, to at the very least add the GSM phone app to the CDMA Centro and shoehorn 8gb+ card support into the OS.
