PalmInfocenter Mobile Version Updates

A number of small enhancements and bug fixes have been applied to the mobile handheld version of PalmInfocenter.com. Read on for more details.

New Features
To make one handed browsing easier, if you navigate and click on the number of comments on the index, new links will take you directly to the mobile version of the comments or the story for quick access. For instance, if you've already read an article, you can jump to the new comments from the mobile homepage.

New links to the desktop version have been added to the news article pages. If you are running a mobile browser that can handle the regular version of PalmInfocenter, you can post a comment from the desktop interface. This first requires that you log in your PIC account from the desktop site on your handheld as well.

Additionally, the bottom navigation bar has been streamlined and a number of broken links have been removed. More devices are now auto-detected including the palmOne Treo 650, the T5 and Windows Mobile smartphones.

Since early 1999, PalmInfocenter has maintained a mostly textual, graphics-lite version of the website for mobile handheld browsing. The mobile version is read by over 25,000 handheld enthusiasts per month.

The URL for the mobile version is: http://www.palminfocenter.com/mobile/

Excellent news, Ryan! I've been putting a lot of time into PIC mobile ever since I got a BT-enabled cell phone so this is welcome news.

Great work. The only problem is now there is a link to the desktop edition of the article. Anybody using iSilo or Plucker and have link depth set to 2 in order to cache the comments would download the desktop version as well.

Any & All feedback is appreciated.

I know that mobile comments are the #1 request, however I need to make my login system work on the mobile version.

Thx IM for the reminder.
