WM6 Update for Locked Phones

bobfree @ 10/31/2007 8:23:50 AM # Q
It is really irritating that after all this time the best Palm can do is partially release an update for the 750. I suppose their hands are being tied by AT&T "to protect our network", but it is frustrating nonetheless. I have increasingly dim views for future success for Palm.

I'm so pissed right now...so pissed.

Is there anyone out there that will be downloading this update who will be willing to email it to me...I'd rather have the unlocked version anyway (even though it won't unlock the phone).

This is what everyone gets for abandoning PDAs willy-nilly in favor of signing their lives over to the carriers to get a half-assed "converged" device. Right now there are NO offerings left in the handheld market and nothing but compromises + carrier excuses & exclusives in the smartphone sector.

Had the technophile community at large given a huge shrug of indifference towards smartphones, we'd have more PDAs (with at least a handful of them being iPod Touch-esque) than we could shake a stick at running over any number of different OSes and with various primary strengths (PMP, PIM, GPS, gaming etc).

Palm's Update is Premature?

dentenman @ 11/4/2007 12:56:44 PM # Q
Has anyone been able to successfully retrieve the WM6 upgrade from Palm yet?

I've attempted to upgrade to WM6 several times on Palm's update page (per the link provided above). Unfortunately, I continued to receive the error message "Invalid Palm Serial Number...".

After speaking with Palm support today, I was informed that the upgrade notice was posted prematurely, and that Palm should have everything working after next week (11/11/07).

Guess I'll try again then...

I feel your frustration. And don't dare ask AT&T for help. I ended up giving them a lesson on Treo 750s and WM6...

Will continue waiting for an update and crossing my fingers that it works.
